The 2026-27 School Year in Bethany and Oak Hills: Dates and Notes for Families

2026-09-25 6 min read Paul Knighton & Chris Hayes

The 2026-27 school year is already underway

The Beaverton School District year is well into its first month, and the questions we hear most from buyers and new neighbors are practical ones: when are the breaks, did any boundaries change, and which schools actually serve a given house? Here is what we verified against the district's own 2026-27 calendar and boundary tools this week, with the same caveat we always add: school details change, so confirm anything that matters to you with the district directly.

For students, the 2026-27 year started on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, with the district calendar built around 174 student days. The year is scheduled to wrap up on Thursday, June 10, 2027, and the three big breaks are mapped for the year ahead: fall break runs November 23 through 27, 2026, winter break runs December 21, 2026 through January 1, 2027, and spring break runs March 22 through 26, 2027.

Bethany and Oak Hills families pull from the same calendar, and the dates above come from the district's published 2026-27 calendar. One honest note: district calendars are subject to change based on contract negotiations, so treat these as the plan, not a guarantee.

Key dates for the rest of 2026-27

The rest of the calendar to put on the fridge: first-trimester report cards and parent conferences tend to land in October and November, then fall break November 23 through 27, and the midyear break December 21 through January 1. Second semester picks back up in early January, spring break runs March 22 through 26, 2027, and the last day of school is scheduled for Thursday, June 10, 2027.

If you are house hunting, these dates matter in a practical way: school-year logistics shape the rhythm of the neighborhood. Move-in timing around a break is easier on kids, and knowing the calendar helps you plan a realistic transition without pulling them out mid-trimester.

Boundaries: unchanged for Bethany and Oak Hills this year

Good news for stability-focused buyers: we found no boundary changes, closures or new school openings affecting this corridor for 2026-27. The elementaries most tied to Bethany and its edges, Bethany, Findley, Jacob Wismer, Bonny Slope and Cedar Mill, keep their attendance areas, and the district's school locator confirms the 2026-27 middle and high school attendance boundaries, including Sunset and Westview, are unchanged. The Arts & Communication Magnet Academy continues at its existing campus on SW Center Street in Beaverton, serving grades 6 through 12.

Two district changes elsewhere are worth knowing only so you are not surprised by neighborhood chatter: the rebuilt Beaverton High School opened in August 2026, and McKay Elementary was closed at the end of 2025-26 with those students reassigned to Greenway and Terra Linda. Neither affects Bethany or Oak Hills, but both show the district does move boundaries and buildings, which is exactly why we never tell buyers to assume a school from a ZIP code.

The district's in-district transfer window for 2026-27 has already closed, so families considering a transfer are looking at the next window. Our schools page lays out the elementary, middle and high school picture for the corridor, and the rule that governs all of it: verify the specific address with the district before you rely on any school assignment.

What new families should do first

If you are new to the corridor, the order of operations is simple. First, verify the assigned schools for your exact address with the district's boundary tools, because street-level lines are the only thing that counts. Second, ask about bus routes and walk-to-school options for an elementary: many Bethany-area neighborhoods were built around schools that kids can reach on foot. Third, if a magnet program like ACMA interests you for a future year, note that application windows open well before the school year they serve, so plan ahead.

And when you are looking at homes, do the school homework before you tour, not after. The answer for one block can differ from the next block over, and knowing the real assignment for each house you visit keeps the search honest and the comparison fair.

Why the calendar matters when you are house hunting

School boundaries and calendars are two of the biggest reasons families choose this corridor, and they are also two of the easiest things to get wrong from a distance. A home search anchored on verified assignments, real bus routes and a realistic move-in window is a calmer search, and it is the kind of context we fold into every tour we plan.

Fall is the right time to see it: the school year is running, the neighborhoods are at their best, and you can watch the actual drop-off and pickup rhythm of a street before you commit to it.

One honest caveat

Everything above reflects the district's published 2026-27 calendar and boundary tools as of late September 2026. Calendars can shift through contract negotiations, boundaries can change between school years, and individual school events move, so confirm directly with the Beaverton School District for anything time-sensitive.

We update this post as the year goes on and as the district publishes changes. If you have a question about a specific address, a school, or how the calendar fits your family's move, ask us and we will give you the local answer, with no invented facts and no pressure.
