The geography is the shortcut
Bethany and Oak Hills sit on the high ground just north of Highway 26, the Sunset Highway, with easy access at the Cornell, Murray and 185th/Skyline interchanges. That position is the single biggest commute advantage of this corridor: you are already at the on-ramp for the two biggest employment draws on the west side.
We are careful with drive times, because traffic is real and everyone's schedule differs, but the typical ranges are genuinely good, and we quote them that way: typical, not promised.
Downtown Portland
From the Bethany and Oak Hills area, downtown Portland is roughly 11 miles east and typically lands in the 15 to 25 minute range on Highway 26 through the Vista Ridge tunnel, longer at peak afternoon crawl. For fair-weather commuters, MAX Blue and Red Line service gives the west side a rail option into downtown as well, and park-and-ride lots take some of the sting out of the drive.
The honest note: the afternoon eastbound backup is the part of the day locals complain about, so anyone commuting downtown daily should test the drive at their actual hours.
Nike World Headquarters
Nike's World Headquarters campus in Beaverton is remarkably close to this corridor, roughly 5 to 10 minutes from the Cedar Mill area and about 10 to 15 minutes from Bethany, depending on lights and traffic. For Nike employees, the day-to-day commute is one of the best in the metro, and the proximity is a big part of why this neighborhood works for so many families.
It also means the campus buzz leaks into local life: nearby cafes and restaurants are full of Nike commuters, and the neighborhood is used to white-collar Westside rhythms.
Intel's Jones Farm and Ronler Acres
Intel's major Hillsboro campuses, including Jones Farm and Ronler Acres, sit west along the same Highway 26 corridor, typically about 10 to 15 minutes from Bethany and Oak Hills. Because the drive runs counter to the heaviest eastbound traffic for much of the day, Intel commuters from this area often enjoy a calmer ride than the downtown crowd.
Throw in the tech corridor's growth around Hillsboro and you can see why the Bethany corridor consistently attracts engineers and product folks: two campuses, one highway, no freeway juggling.
