The Holiday Season in Bethany and Oak Hills: A 2026 Preview

2026-10-13 5 min read Paul Knighton & Chris Hayes

The season starts here

Halloween is still two weeks out, but the holiday calendar in this corridor fills up fast, and the smart move is to plan now. Between Bethany Village, downtown Beaverton and The Reser, there is a tree lighting, a market or a show on most weeks from late October through December, and several of the best events are free.

Here is the honest preview of what is coming this season, with dates and times from the organizers' own pages, verified this week. Details do change, so confirm on the linked pages before you head out.

Halloween first: Booverton and the village hunt

The season's first big family date is Booverton on Sunday, October 25 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. downtown: trick-or-treating at participating businesses, costumes and kid-friendly activities, hosted by the Beaverton Downtown Association. Then on Saturday, October 31, the Bethany Village Halloween Hunt runs 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. through the village square, with trick-or-treating at participating shops right in the middle of Bethany.

Both are free, both are built for little kids, and both are the kind of event that makes this corridor feel like a neighborhood.

Tree lightings: Bethany Village, Beaverton and Cedar Mill

The anchor events of the season are the tree lightings. Bethany Village lights its tree on Tuesday, December 1 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., with live performances, the countdown around 5:15 p.m., Santa's arrival and a holiday market in the plaza. Beaverton's Winter Lights and tree lighting follow on Friday, December 4 at Beaverton City Park, with the citywide light displays running through January 3, 2027 and the Chamber's Winter Market and kids markets from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.

And Cedar Mill's annual tree lighting in the plaza next to Insomnia Coffee is in the planning stages, with the exact December date posted closer to the season. We will add it to our calendar the moment it is confirmed.

Holiday music and ballet at The Reser

The Reser's holiday lineup is the strongest it has been since the center opened. Jim Brickman brings Piano Sensation! and a Little Bit of Christmas on Thursday, November 12. Campana Sobre Campana: Christmas in Mexico arrives Saturday, November 28 with mariachi and folklorico. Tomaseen Foley's A Celtic Christmas plays Wednesday, December 2. The Oregon International Ballet Academy's Nutcracker runs December 5 and 6. Haley Johnsen plays Sunday, December 13, and Rock the Holidays with Aaron Meyer lands Friday, December 18.

That is six holiday shows in six weeks, a short drive from Bethany and Oak Hills. Tickets for the biggest nights go first, so book early if a particular show matters to you.

Markets and night markets

Downtown Beaverton's November night market, on Saturday, November 14 from 5:00 to 9:30 p.m., shifts into harvest and holiday mode: local vendors and makers, seasonal food and music under the lights. Then the Beaverton Area Chamber's Winter Market joins the tree lighting at Beaverton City Park on Friday, December 4 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., a good early start on holiday shopping.

Bethany Village's December 1 tree lighting also includes a holiday market in the plaza, so you can shop the village square, grab a warm drink and watch the countdown in one evening.

Plan ahead, confirm before you go

A few honest notes from years of covering this calendar: annual events occasionally shift dates or times, rain happens, and the best evenings are the ones with a plan B. Confirm each event on the organizer's page in the days before you go, and sign up for the organizers' newsletters if you want the updates straight from them.

We keep our community calendar updated as details are confirmed, so it is the one page to check when you are making plans.
