Date Night Pick: Thai Bloom in Beaverton

This week's pick: Thai Bloom

Every week we point you to one genuinely well-reviewed spot in the Bethany and Portland metro area for a relaxed evening out, a restaurant, a wine bar, an experience worth the drive. This week it is Thai Bloom at 3800 SW Cedar Hills Boulevard in Beaverton's Cedar Hills area, a short drive south from Bethany and Oak Hills and a different kind of evening from the winery we featured last week.

Thai Bloom opened in 2012 and has built its name on elevated, artfully plated Thai food; the kitchen's own tagline is that Thai cuisine is a work of art. The room is warm and elegant, the service is friendly, and it has become one of the Westside's go-to places for an evening that feels special without any fuss.

Why it stands out

The reviews are strong and consistent: around 4.3 stars on Tripadvisor across roughly 300 reviews and ranked among the top restaurants in Beaverton, with even higher scores from the past year on the delivery apps, where thousands of ratings live. What regulars keep mentioning: the artful presentation, the warm and elegant room, a well-regarded happy hour and hospitality that makes a first visit feel like a return visit.

It is the kind of place that works for a proper evening out, a small celebration in the private party room, or a relaxed weeknight with plates to share. Nobody hurries you, and the plating alone is worth the drive.

What to order or do

Our honest advice: start with the dish the regulars order most, the Crab Pad Thai, topped with real crab, and add fresh salad rolls to share. The curries (yellow, panang and green), pad see ew and drunken noodles round out the most-ordered list, and the happy hour is genuinely popular for a lighter evening.

Let whoever is serving guide you through the menu, and for a full dinner out, book a table ahead. The room is comfortable whether you dress up or come as you are, and there is a private party room if you are marking something.

The honest price picture

In the spirit of this site's ask-for-current-pricing standard, we do not print dollar figures here either. In general terms, Thai Bloom sits at the mid-range to upscale end of the date-night spectrum: it is a step above the everyday takeout bowl, a place you go for a proper meal out, with a happy hour that keeps a weeknight friendly and an easygoing dress code.

The menu changes a little with the seasons, so check their current menu and hours on the restaurant's own site before you go.

Plan the evening your way

Whoever you go with, or on your own, the room is for you. Good food and an unhurried evening are for everyone, and we only feature places that welcome whoever shows up. The drive from Bethany and Oak Hills is short and simple: south on Cedar Hills Boulevard into the Cedar Hills area, with the mall's parking right there.

One standing note for this whole series, on the record: none of our features assumes anything about who you are, who you live with, or what your household looks like. This area has room for everyone, and our picks are for all of you.

Ask us for the next pick

We will feature a new spot every week and keep a running list so nothing repeats. If you try Thai Bloom and love it, tell us. If you have a favorite of your own that belongs in this series, send it our way and we will test it ourselves.

And if you are weighing a move to Bethany or Oak Hills and want to know what a Friday night actually looks like from a given address, ask us. We know the corridor block by block.
